Boo!

I can't believe it's freakin' Hallowe'en already. Where the hell did the summer go?

I can't decide whether to pick up a little box of candy or not. Chances are I'll just end up eating it all anyway, cause I don't know if there are actually any kids in the apartment that would go trick-or-treating INSIDE the apartment building. Maybe I'll stop and get something. I can always bring it into work.

Wedding plans are slowly taking shape. We have a few details nailed down and the like.. so it's progressing. It's Tuesday, there's not much on TV tonight, so I might actually get the invitations designed. Hopefully.

My car parts should be in this week to. Finally I can get the stuff on the car that's been sitting in my garage for the last 6 months. Shocks, springs, front rotors & pads, a full rear disc brake swap with new rotors, pads, bearings... you name it. should handle like a mofo and stop on a dime. I got the last little bits to move my radio and install the XM unit too. :-)

Rock on!

Busy Busy...

Man it's been busy the last little while.

Jeannette and I are officially engaged. Most know this already, but oh well. Wedding plans are coming along VERY slowly, although we do have a date set. September 8, 2007. Mark it in your daytimers.

Mom and I went to see Janet and Paul in Chicago for Canadian thanksgiving. Had a blast. Paul and I played golf, Mom and Janet went shopping. We had turkey, watched football, and had a really good time. Did the 3 mile trek around the lake. Nice place. Needed another day or so though. 10hours there and 10hours back is a lot for 2 days of visiting. Mom and I had a ball on the trip though.

Nette's been working pretty hard on Warriors season2. They are back in Barrie and as such, I'm a pseudo-bachelor again. But since work has been so busy, I'm not really a socialite. Work and sleep seems to be all I do. Still playing Ultimate. Fall league is about 1/2 way through and we are not too bad. Getting better every game which is nice. As people gel together and get used to how each plays, we should be pretty good by the end of the season.

My car is in some desperate need of some love. It's got new brakes, new suspension, some new belts and a Satellite radio to be installed in the next little while. Just waiting on my Shocks to arrive. After that I'll be broke and my credit card is going to on ICE for a while. Good thing I bought Nette's christmas present early! :-)

Work has been going very well. It seems after our slow spot in July, everything has picked up and we are just cruising right along. And we still have no website, old business cards, no advertising. It's been great that all of our work has come word of mouth - means we are doing something right.

Speaking of work, I'm learning how to do PHP and MySQL database manipulation and management. Kinda neat. I get to use the creative side of my brain to make it look nice, and the computer geek side of my brain to get it to code properly. It's been a learning curve but everything seems to be coming along nicely!

Anyhoo.. I should get back to work.... Laters y'all.

Waterfest 2006: The Return

Okay. So it's been a week since Waterfest. The biggest VW show on the East coast (USA) did not disappoint, and for once... it didn't rain on sunday. We had a great time in Jersey. The 'evening' festivities being almost as fun as the show.

But the real fun didn't start until the border on the way home. During the show, the guy I went down with bought some new parts for his ride – a 2003 GTI. The idea was to sell the old parts, and replace them with the new parts before we headed back to the Great White (but Hot) North. Alas, it didn't happen. So now we have two sets, and have to cart on of them home in the car, the other on the car. Well, we roll up to the border and pull up to the booth. The Customs agent asks all the normal questions, asks us how much we spent, anything to declare... then asks about the extra parts. We said that we brought them with us. No dice. So she writes us up and sends us over to the 'office'. We pull in and the 8 Customs agents start giving us the schpeal about 'tell us now and save the trouble' blah, blah, blah. Then they start to go through the car, pulling out clothing bags and knapsacks, searching boxes (my new springs) and bags (t-shirts). As this is all happening another car pulls in. Out gets a guy, his girl, and his buddy. They all come in and start giving the agents attitude about paying the duties on the $4000 wedding dress they bought. The situation starts to get interesting when they failed to tell the border guard that one guy was a US citizen. After the attitude and the lie, they run their ID and start to look through their car. It gets really good when they find a GUN wrapped in the $4000 wedding dress and proceed to arrest them all. Cuffs and searches too. Then they kick us out and tell us to get lost. Party on.

Thanks to the gun toting moron, we get out of a somewhat sticky situation and book it outta dodge before they change their minds. wOOt!

Anyway. Work has been good this week... it had been slow, but some new leads and some new business have come in so we are looking very good for the next little while.

Not much else is happening. Jeannette and I have decided to get a puppy. It's really her birthday present, and it's her dog, but it's a dachshund, so it's cool. We just need to make some calls and see which breeders in the areas have puppies. Woot! We're looking for a black and tan long hair. Like Tazzer. It'll be fun. She's just worried about going back to Barrie for shooting Monster Warriors: Season 2.

Anyway... I'm outtie. TTYL.

Bachmann/Cummings

Randy Bachmann and Burton Cummings maybe a little older now, but they can still rock the house! Jeannette, Mom, Susan (A friend of Mom's) and I took in the show at the amphitheatre last night and man was it awesome.

I got to see the Guess Who when they played the SARS festival show at Downsview park in '02. They were great then, but the set was short. This time, they went on stage at about 8:30 and rocked the place till 11pm. 2 Encores and all the great Guess Who, BTO and stuff from their respective solo careers.

I need to get out to see more live music. I love the atmosphere, the energy, it was so cool.

Germany beat Sweden in World Cup action today, becoming the first team into the round of 8. I've become totally engrossed in the World Cup this year. I've watched more soccer in the last few weeks, than I have EVER watched before. GO DEUTSCHLAND!

Should be a good game between Argentina and Mexico too.

Well, off to the Jays game. They lost to the Mets yesterday, but with Halladay on the mound it should be a great game!

Woot.

Hey. Been a while. Been busy. All that vacation you know.

Jeannette and I took last week off and headed up to Lion's Head ('bout 45mins south of Tobermory). Her parents used to vacation up there when Nette was younger, so we decided it would be cool to see how much has changed. It's all new to me, but we had a great time.

Since it was before their summer rush, we had a nice quiet room in the motel. It had 2 double beds, a kitchen, desk, couch, etc. Nothing fancy, but right on the beach. We left TO on tuesday (Ball game on monday night kept us in town) and arrived at Jeannette's parents place in Belwood at about 4:00 pm I guess. Spent some time visiting and picking up the digi-cam. After dinner we booked it north and made Lion's head about 10-ish I guess.

I could have used the Hella 500 Driving Lights I got for my birthday (in May), but I never got around to installing them. Some of those long flat, dark stretches of road would have been obliterated had I had them. They project to 5900 ft. ! Anyway, got to the motel and crashed.

Wednesday we spent in Lion's head, which I think we walked across the entire town in about 20 minutes... And I thought Fergus was small! Nice, quiet town. Not much to do unless you own a boat I guess. Spent most of the day seeing all the sights that Nette remembered as a kid. Back to the hotel for World Cup Soccer! Go Deutschland!

Thursday we headed into Tobermory after passing the "big Wind Spinney Thingie"... i.e. the Ontario Power Gen. Wind Mill. That this is HUGE! Once we hit Toberymory we jumped onto a glass bottom boat and toured some of the shipwrecks in the area, then headed out to Flowerpot Island. The island has a number of neat things to visit including some cool rock formations, caves, and the Flowerpot Island Lighthouse and Fog Alarm station. Once the main entry into Georgian Bay from Lake Huron for shipping, it's now a tourist attraction. You can camp on the island and the hiking trail is about 4 km.

Friday we spent back in Lion's head, and the weather looked kinda threatening. We spent most of the Day on the patio reading and chillin' out. Walked the boardwalk and into the marina. Some nice boats at dock too.

Saturday we checked out and headed back into 'civilization'. Headed back down number 6 highway into fergus and back to Jeannette's Parents. The day was super awesome weather wise and I really wished I had an airplane to fly. Fred (Jeannette's dad) and I had an unfortunate incident with mother earth that left my plane in a state of disrepair. I have a new one on the go, and I need like a weekend to sit and finish it up. Needs to be covered and have the final assembly done...

I also got to watch the sail planes fly by as they regularily use the Corbett field for thermals. the Aurthur sail club and the belwood club are just stone's throws away. I've been seriously considereing trying to get my sailplane licence. I think it would be cool!

Sunday saw us heading back into the big bad city, just in time to play a double header of floor hockey in a non-air-conditioned school gym, which was a sauna by 4pm. We split the double header losing the first game, but winning the second.

Back to work on Monday. Things are slowing down a bit for Blowfish, but I think it's just that time of year. If anyone needs some design work, web work, or anything printed in the GTA, drop me a line.

Well... that's all for now. laters.
